Buys – July 2016

Hello World,

These were my buys for the month of July:

MO 3 0.565 $0.57 $1.70 $6.78 J,A,J,O
SBUX 3 0.2 $0.20 $0.60 $2.40 F,M,A,N
AAPL 4 0.57 $0.76 $2.28 $9.12 F,M,A,N
PSEC 93 0.2499 $7.75 $23.24 $92.96 ALL
      MO QTR ANN
TOTAL     $9.27 $27.82 $111.26

I bought MO because of their brands being a large part of the large population of smokers. Has a good dividend history, decent payout ratio, decent p/e ratio, and as I have said the market is there in my opinion.

I bought SBUX because.. Should I go on? Lines. Sales. Coffee. Yield is small, but it’ll work out ok in the long run I believe.

I bought more AAPL

I bought more PSEC.

There you have it folks. Another month has passed. We are approaching the autumn. Love these times. This summer has been fun despite being tight on a budget. It’s okay though, things should loosen up with each buy. Great summer so far. Lots of time off which means more time with the family. That’s all that truly matters.

As time passes, I realize how important it is to simply stay on a path no matter how boring you may think it is. As time goes on, I have come to enjoy the repetition of things. Staying on a consistent path whatever you are doing is as important as living ‘inconsistently’ so to speak. Nice steady growth day by day. Year by year. Nothing wrong with being a bit spontaneous, but life should be consistent in order to be long. Whatever path you are on. In my case, it happens to be dividend growth investing. Compound interest works better with time, the longevity of time. So the longer I continue staying consistent with my self, growth will grow. Consistent on every move I make. Or try to be for that matter =)

My only way I can describe my strategy on saving a large percentage of income is to imagine being as TRANSACTIONLESS as possible. No buys or ‘sales’. Just life. Increase the savings rate to increase the investment rate. Simple as that. I say to myself “do I really need this?”.. A big NO comes up in my mind and the day moves ON.

Ok, enough philosophy, back to the #’s. With these additions I am now adding 9$ to my monthly income, 28$ to my quarterly income & 111$ to my annual passive income. Incredible. Obviously, these will not set me free, but I can feel the change. Every bit of working capital counts. Let’s see what August brings. Woot woot!

  1. Nice buys here. MO is one stock that I have enjoyed owning. Steady dividends, MO delivers. I like all of your buys except for PSEC. Nothing against the company, I just don’t know enough about it to know if it’s a good buy or not. In this space I buy shares of MAIN. Keep up the good work.

    1. IH,

Thank you for the comment! Appreciate it brother. Yeah, for now I’m just starting my core positions in very small increments (500$), picking my targets one by one, eyeing them like a hawk to get in at a good price.
